Open BuckleMaturity Buckle

2nd Annual Top Hand Cattle Dog Trial coming soon!

Continued from home page

The Top Hand Maturity Trial will be a new class for 2010. Dogs must not be older than 30 months of age as of January 1, 2010 to enter.  “The Maturity Trial is a great opportunity for younger dogs, just starting to go to work, to compete against each other instead of older, more seasoned dogs,” says Scrivner.  “There are many handlers who travel a long way and this gives people another opportunity to compete during the weekend.” There is over 87% payback for the Maturity Trial, so this is a great chance to run for great payouts and prizes.

The Top Hand Trial is proud to welcome new sponsors for the 2010 trial season who are helping to make this all possible. Purina has come on board as the Title Sponsor for the Maturity Trial.  Jeff Payne Bits and Spurs and Don Gonzales Saddlery have both joined us as sponsors for the Open Trial.

Be sure to check TopHandCattleDogs.com for more information and updates as the trial approaches. Entries open March 15, 2010 and the deadline is April 9, 2010. You can download entry forms on the Top Hand website.

Top Hand Cattle Dog Open Field Trial

A place for ranchers and working cowboys to gather and test the grit and ability of their working cattle dogs in a setting as close to ranch work as possible. This trial is not judged but graded on points and time. This is not an arena trial. Some tasks may include: Sending your dog into the pasture 300+ yards, gathering cattle and bringing then into working pens; Sorting cattle, penning cattle; loading cattle into a trailer. If you have a tough one, come join us. We want to know who is the “Top Hand.”
